Absolutly amazing - La Femme du Boulanger

My third night in Nice and this was my best dinner! I tried the lamb and it was really something special! The meat was well prepared and the sauce just awesome. Good service from the personnel egen though that this was a very busy evening. Try this place, their speciality with stuffed sandwishes looken great too.

“Not a good day for La Famme”

It pains me to write this review. I can't ever remember having the reaction that I should just run from a restaurant before anything was served. I suspect they were missing an important staff person.

We arrived with no greetings of any kind. We entered the restaurant to let them know we had an 8:30 reservation. After 20 minutes, we didn't have a menu, a glass of water or a piece of bread.

Finally, we got the menu, but not the specials du jour. we ordered some water and selected our main course. But of course, they were out of chicken. The server recommended an alternative. It appeared the chef was serving food. My duck a la orange had a predominant flavor of salt. There were no subtle flavors of herb, orange, duck. My plate was intended to have a salad, but the salad was given to my daughter. She had salad on her plate and was puzzled why she had two salads. She was determined to eat healthy, so she ate both because her food was completely inedible.

Our plates sat in front of us for 40 minutes. A table served before us, still had their dirty plates in front of them when we departed. Other diners were arriving to be seated at tables covered in dirty dishes.

They gave my daughter a dessert on the house to make up for her main course. Afterward, it took 35 minutes to get the attention of our server to get a check.

A leisurely European dinner is a wonderful thing. This came out as very poor service. Given the reviews, I think this was an off day with a missing staff member.

I hope they have a better day.
